Global DataPoint can now offer a more comprehensive service across the UK. In addition to the largest dataset of entertainment and events listings, clients can now order photo images of the locations as well. This service is available through Global DataPoint’s co-operation with the Local Data Company.

A matching process was completed to link the entertainment venues in the UK Events Listings database with corresponding points of interest (POI) records from the Local Data Company and the Market Location Database covering businesses across the UK.

The co-operation also allows customers to add shops, restaurants, pubs and bars and local businesses to enhance the data offered by Global DataPoint. This will give websites and digital services the opportunity to have a full hyper-local ‘What’s On’ and ‘Where To Go’ service.

Existing customers receiving Local Data Company venues can now integrate Global DataPoint’s UK listings without the worrying about duplication or unique matching as this has been done for them. LDC service a range of sectors from directory companies and estate agents to city guides and mobile search. Clients include Google, Touch Local, Yell.com and the AA.

Visit London chose to work with Global DataPoint in December 2006. Visit London conducted a thorough evaluation of the data feed from Global DataPoint and from other providers also. They decided that due to the comprehensive nature of our events data coupled with the excellent communication from Global DataPoint throughout the evaluation process they would choose to receive a Global DataPoint feed over other competitors.

This month Visit London have renewed their contract with Global DataPoint. The Managing Editor John Whiddett says:

‘The Global DataPoint xml feed gave us a four fold increase in the events we had listed on Visitlondon.com. It also improved our users’ ability to plan ahead for their trip to London with its long lead time. The integration was smooth and the two-way communication between ourselves and Global DataPoint has allowed us to enhance and improve the way we use their comprehensive information.’
